What that changes here
In Brussels, asbestos is rarely a roof in corrugated sheets: it is in the cladding of an extension, in an old chimney stack or under a terrace. The quantities are small, the conditions difficult — occupied buildings, shared courtyards. The Brussels rules also differ from the Flemish ones; we apply those of the place we are working in.
Evere was built mainly after the war: housing estates from the 1950s and 1960s, social housing and apartment blocks with large flat roofs. The building stock is younger than elsewhere in Brussels, but the first generation of bitumen felt laid on those flat roofs is now reaching the end of its life.
