Water-repellent treatment & coating
Clear or coloured water repellent for porous tiles and facades.
What this covers
A water repellent does not repair a roof: it stops water getting into a porous material. On a concrete tile or a tired fibre cement slate it cuts water absorption and clearly slows the return of moss. Applied badly — on a damp surface, in a single coat, or on a material that did not need it — it does not last three years. That is exactly what explains the contradictory opinions on the subject.
- Diagnosis of the surface: not every material can be treated
- Complete cleaning and drying required before application
- Clear water repellent, or coloured to even out a mismatched covering
- Two crossed coats, to saturation, from the ridge down to the eaves
- Microporous product: the surface breathes, the water no longer gets in
- Planting, joinery and surroundings protected

On site
Seen up close
A roof is judged on its details: the junctions, the overlaps, the penetrations. This is the point of workmanship that, on this service, makes the difference between a roof that lasts ten years and one that lasts thirty.

Common questions
Water-repellent treatment & coating
A question that is not on the list? Ask it over the phone, the answer is free too.
Applied properly on a clean, dry surface, allow eight to ten years on a roof and five to eight years on a facade exposed to westerly rain. The first sign of wear is easy to spot: the water no longer beads, it spreads out and darkens the material.
The clear product changes nothing about the appearance: it is the default choice, and the only one allowed in a protected area. The coloured product evens out a covering whose colours have drifted after successive repairs. It does not rescue a covering at the end of its life — it disguises it, and we will tell you so.
On a porous brick or render, yes, and it is often the cheapest way to stop damp coming through a west-facing gable. The condition is the same: a clean, dry surface, and the cause dealt with first — an overflowing gutter, for example.
