Yes. Large farm roofs are part of our daily work in the Hageland. The price depends on three things: the state of the sheets (a friable sheet is not handled like a sound one), the access for the cherry picker or the scaffold, and the volume of waste to be taken away. We go up and look before putting forward any figure.

Can you work outside opening hours?

For a shop or a workshop: yes, within reason and in agreement with the neighbours. The noisy phases — stripping out, cutting, scaffolding — are planned for the slots that get in your way least. That is settled in the schedule, not once the job has started.

What documents do we get at the end?

A detailed invoice, certificates of ten-year liability and public liability, a photo report of the job, and for any asbestos removal the disposal document. These papers get asked for when the building is sold or by your insurer: we hand them over without your having to ask.

Farm buildings
The Hageland and Haspengouw hold thousands of sheds, cowsheds and lean-tos roofed in pre-2001 corrugated sheets. These are large areas, often in poor condition, where stripping out without breakage and tracing the waste matter as much as the new covering. It is a significant part of our work, and we price it plainly.

The cost is not in taking it down

On a farm building, taking the sheets down is the simplest part. What weighs in the quotation is the sealed packaging, the transport and the treatment at a licensed facility — as well as the actual state of the sheets, which decides the working method.

A sound sheet comes down whole, without breakage and without cutting. A friable sheet, eaten away by thirty years of rain and frost, calls for considerably more care. That is why no serious figure can be given over the phone.

In Flanders, selling a building from before 2001 requires an asbestos certificate drawn up by a certified expert. We do not draw up that certificate, but we supply the disposal document proving that the asbestos was dealt with properly — the paper asked for at every transaction.

So we hand over the complete file — photo record, quotation, technical note — so the item can be put to the meeting properly. That avoids the classic situation of the co-owner who pays out and is then refused reimbursement by the association.
